Which accounting companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Arizona?
Large public accounting firms with Phoenix-area offices, including Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, have historically hired F-1 OPT candidates for audit and tax roles. Regional firms like Heinfeld Meech and CliftonLarsonAllen also operate in Arizona. Corporate employers in sectors like financial services, healthcare, and technology, including Freeport-McMoRan and Banner Health, regularly fill accounting positions that can accommodate OPT work authorization.
Which cities in Arizona have the most accounting F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix holds the majority of accounting OPT opportunities in Arizona, given its concentration of corporate headquarters, regional offices, and Big Four presence. Scottsdale is a secondary hub with a strong financial services and accounting sector. Tempe attracts candidates from Arizona State University's nearby campus. Tucson has a smaller but active market, particularly tied to University of Arizona graduates entering public and corporate accounting roles.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that commonly qualify include staff accountant, audit associate, tax associate, financial analyst, accounts payable specialist, and management accountant positions. These roles generally require a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or a related field, aligning with OPT's requirement that work be directly related to your major. Cost accounting, internal audit, and forensic accounting positions at larger Arizona employers also appear regularly in OPT-eligible hiring.
How do I find accounting F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters accounting jobs in Arizona by visa type, including F-1 OPT, so you are not sifting through postings from employers who do not sponsor. Search for roles in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe and filter by the Accounting and Auditing category to surface relevant openings. Applying early in your OPT window gives you the most time to complete any subsequent H-1B visa sponsorship process with your employer.
Are there any Arizona-specific considerations for F-1 OPT accounting sponsorship?
Arizona has no state income tax on wages starting in 2025 following a flat tax structure, but OPT holders are subject to federal tax obligations as nonresident aliens for their first five years in the U.S. Arizona's large public university system, particularly ASU and U of A, produces a high volume of accounting graduates, which means competition for OPT-eligible roles in Phoenix can be meaningful. Employers familiar with hiring international graduates from these schools may already have OPT onboarding processes in place.
