Which accounting companies sponsor TN visas in California?
The Big Four firms, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, and EY, are among the most active TN visa sponsors in California, with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Jose. Regional firms such as Moss Adams and Grant Thornton also have a significant California presence and hire Canadian and Mexican nationals under the TN category for accounting and audit roles. Corporate accounting departments at large California-based companies in tech and entertainment also sponsor TN workers.
Which cities in California have the most accounting TN sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and Los Angeles account for the majority of accounting TN sponsorship activity in California, driven by the concentration of financial services, technology, and entertainment firms headquartered in those metros. San Jose and Sacramento also generate consistent demand, particularly in corporate accounting and internal audit. Silicon Valley tech companies in the San Jose area frequently hire accountants with TN status to support finance operations.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
The TN category covers accountants, auditors, and certain financial analysts when the role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or a directly related field. Common qualifying titles include staff accountant, senior accountant, internal auditor, external auditor, tax accountant, and forensic accountant. Roles that are primarily bookkeeping or clerical in nature generally do not qualify. The position must require the professional judgment and theoretical knowledge associated with a degree in accounting.
How do I find accounting TN sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate lists accounting jobs in California that are open to TN visa sponsorship, filtering out postings unlikely to support Canadian or Mexican nationals. You can search by city, role type, and visa category to narrow results to accountant, auditor, and financial analyst positions across the state. Because TN sponsorship depends on the employer and the specific role, Migrate Mate's filtered listings help you focus your applications on positions where sponsorship is genuinely available.
Are there state-specific considerations for accounting TN sponsorship in California?
California requires CPAs to hold a license issued by the California Board of Accountancy if they are performing attest services such as audits or reviews on behalf of a licensed firm. Canadian and Mexican nationals working in accounting on a TN visa are subject to the same licensing requirements as any other professional in the state. For tax and advisory roles that do not require a CPA license, this is less of a barrier, but candidates should verify licensing requirements with the relevant California board before accepting a role.
