Which visa types are most common for trucking roles in California?
H-1B visas are rarely used for standard truck driving positions since they require specialized knowledge and a bachelor's degree. Most international trucking professionals in California obtain sponsorship through EB-3 immigrant visas for skilled or unskilled workers, or TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying logistics management or transportation coordinator roles.
Which California cities have the most trucking visa sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles and Long Beach lead in trucking sponsorship opportunities due to their massive port operations and logistics infrastructure. Oakland, Fresno, and Bakersfield also offer significant opportunities, with the Central Valley serving as a major distribution hub. San Diego and Sacramento provide additional markets, particularly for companies handling cross-border and interstate freight operations.
How to find trucking visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international job seekers with California trucking companies that sponsor work visas. Focus on large logistics operators, port-related freight companies, and interstate carriers that have established sponsorship programs. Target positions in logistics coordination, fleet management, or specialized transportation roles that align with visa requirements for your specific situation.
Which trucking companies in California are known to sponsor visas?
Major logistics companies with California operations including UPS, FedEx Ground, XPO Logistics, and C.H. Robinson have sponsored international employees for management and specialized roles. Large freight carriers serving California ports and distribution centers may sponsor for logistics coordinator, fleet management, or specialized transportation positions rather than standard driving roles.
What are the prevailing wage requirements for trucking sponsorship jobs in California?
California's prevailing wages for trucking and logistics positions vary significantly by location and role type. Port areas like Los Angeles and Long Beach typically have higher wage requirements than inland regions. Companies must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage standards for the specific job classification and geographic area when filing visa petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored trucking jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
