Which electronics companies in Illinois sponsor E-3 visas?
Several Illinois-based electronics employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for specialty occupation roles. Motorola Solutions and Zebra Technologies, both headquartered in the Chicago area, regularly hire electrical and hardware engineers. Abbott Labs sponsors roles in medical electronics, and Rockwell Automation has a significant Illinois presence. Reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data gives you a verifiable picture of which employers have filed for electronics roles.
Which cities in Illinois have the most electronics E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Chicago and its northern suburbs, particularly Schaumburg, Libertyville, and Hoffman Estates, account for the majority of electronics E-3 sponsorship activity in Illinois. Schaumburg is the headquarters of Motorola Solutions, while Libertyville hosts Abbott's medical device operations. Smaller clusters exist in Rockford, which has a manufacturing base in precision electronics, and in the Peoria area where industrial electronics firms operate.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship requires the role to meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning it must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In electronics, qualifying roles commonly include electrical engineer, hardware design engineer, embedded systems engineer, RF engineer, PCB design engineer, and electronics test engineer. Roles like general technician or assembly supervisor typically do not qualify because they don't require a specific bachelor's degree as a standard entry requirement.
How do I find electronics E-3 sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface Illinois electronics employers with verified E-3 sponsorship history drawn from DOL Labor Condition Application data. This means you can identify companies that have actually filed for E-3 roles in electronics, not just those that claim to sponsor. Narrowing your search to the Chicago metro and northern suburbs gives you the highest concentration of relevant openings.
Are there Illinois-specific considerations for electronics E-3 sponsorship?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal obligations, but the state's mix of manufacturing, medical devices, and enterprise technology creates some industry-specific nuances. Medical electronics roles may require familiarity with FDA regulatory frameworks, which can affect how employers frame job descriptions and degree requirements for E-3 purposes. Illinois employers in defense electronics may also have export control obligations under ITAR that affect which candidates they can sponsor, so it is worth confirming this with the hiring employer early in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 electronics jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
