Which accounting companies sponsor E-3 visas in Illinois?
The Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, and EY, all have significant Chicago presences and established histories of sponsoring E-3 visas for Australian accounting professionals. Mid-tier firms like Grant Thornton, RSM, and BDO also operate out of Chicago and have sponsored E-3 holders in audit and tax roles. Large Illinois-headquartered corporations with internal finance teams, such as Boeing and Caterpillar, have also filed E-3 petitions for accounting positions.
Which cities in Illinois have the most accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of accounting E-3 sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by its concentration of public accounting firms, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters in the Loop and surrounding business districts. Suburban hubs like Schaumburg, Naperville, and Oak Brook also host regional offices of national firms and mid-size companies with finance teams that occasionally sponsor E-3 visa holders.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Illinois?
Roles that require a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a closely related field tend to qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 requirements. In Illinois, this commonly includes positions such as external auditor, tax associate, financial analyst, internal auditor, and management accountant. Roles where any general business degree satisfies the requirement, regardless of field, are more difficult to qualify, so the degree-to-role match matters significantly.
How do I find accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is the most targeted way to find accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs in Illinois, since it filters specifically for employers who have sponsored E-3 visas and surfaces roles in accounting and related fields by state. Rather than sorting through thousands of unfiltered listings, you can focus on Illinois-based employers in public accounting, corporate finance, and audit who are actively open to Australian candidates requiring E-3 sponsorship.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for accounting E-3 sponsorship?
Illinois does not impose additional state-level visa requirements beyond federal E-3 rules, but accounting professionals should be aware that some roles in Illinois require CPA licensure for certain titles or responsibilities. The Illinois Board of Examiners evaluates international credentials for CPA eligibility, and Australian accounting qualifications may require additional coursework or exams to meet Illinois CPA requirements. This does not affect E-3 eligibility itself, but it can influence the roles available to you long-term.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 accounting jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
