Which healthcare companies sponsor TN visas in Illinois?
Illinois has several large health systems with established TN sponsorship activity. Northwestern Medicine, Advocate Health Care, Rush University Medical Center, University of Chicago Medicine, and OSF HealthCare are among the employers that have hired TN professionals in clinical and allied health roles. Academic medical centers tend to have more structured international hiring processes than smaller community hospitals, though sponsorship is never guaranteed and varies by role and facility.
Which cities in Illinois have the most healthcare TN sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the largest share of healthcare TN sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, driven by its concentration of academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and large health systems. Suburban areas including Evanston, Oak Brook, and Naperville also have significant healthcare employer presence. Outside the Chicago metro, Peoria and Springfield have regional hospital systems that periodically hire internationally, though volume is lower than in the Chicago area.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
The TN visa covers a defined list of healthcare occupations. In Illinois, commonly filled TN roles include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, medical laboratory technologists, dietitians, and physician assistants. Each category has specific degree and licensing requirements under USMCA. Roles not explicitly listed in the TN schedule, such as medical assistants or surgical technicians, do not qualify regardless of employer willingness to sponsor.
How do I find healthcare TN sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for professionals seeking U.S. visa sponsorship. You can filter by TN visa type, the healthcare industry, and Illinois as your target state to see current openings from employers open to sponsoring Canadian and Mexican applicants. Because TN sponsorship is handled at the border or port of entry rather than through a lengthy USCIS petition, some Illinois employers who might hesitate with H-1B sponsorship are more willing to hire TN-eligible candidates.
Are there Illinois-specific considerations for healthcare TN sponsorship?
Illinois requires state licensure for most regulated healthcare professions before you can practice, and many licenses require a Social Security Number, which you can obtain after entering on TN status. For registered nurses, Illinois participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, which can simplify multi-state practice. Canadian and Mexican professionals should confirm their specific credential evaluation requirements with the relevant Illinois licensing board before beginning a job search, as requirements vary by profession.
