Tips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Iowa
Target Iowa's food processing and agribusiness giants
Companies like Tyson Foods, Iowa Premium, and John Morrell have deep sponsorship histories in Iowa. These employers regularly file PERM labor certifications for production, engineering, and operations roles across rural and mid-sized communities.
Search OFLC PERM disclosure data for Iowa employers
The Department of Labor publishes PERM application records at flag.dol.gov. Filter by Iowa to identify which employers have sponsored Green Cards recently, what job titles they filed for, and how frequently they sponsor.
Focus on Des Moines insurance and financial services firms
Des Moines is home to Principal Financial, EMC Insurance, and Nationwide. These firms sponsor Green Cards for actuarial, IT, and analytical roles and have established immigration support programs with dedicated legal teams.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified Green Card sponsorship roles in Iowa
Migrate Mate filters jobs by visa type, making it straightforward to identify Iowa employers actively sponsoring Green Cards rather than sifting through postings that never mention immigration support at all.
Prioritize university and hospital systems in Iowa City and Ames
The University of Iowa and Iowa State University regularly sponsor Green Cards for research, faculty, and technical staff. University of Iowa Hospitals is also a consistent PERM filer for healthcare and scientific positions.
Look for EB-3 pathways in Iowa's manufacturing and skilled trades
Iowa's manufacturing base, particularly in precision machining, food processing, and industrial equipment, supports EB-3 sponsorship for skilled and semi-skilled workers. These roles often move faster through PERM than professional EB-2 filings.

U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
