McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Psychology and Counseling with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Concentration.
DEPARTMENT: Department of Psychology and Counseling / College of Nursing and Health Professions
POSITION INFORMATION: Our faculty seeks enthusiastic candidates who share our commitment to collaboration within our Department of Psychology and Counseling and on-campus master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International Accreditation Board (ABAI). This is an in-person, full-time, 9–month, tenure-track, unclassified position. The on-campus appointment will begin August 2026.

DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE: McNeese State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in its ABAI-accredited Master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The successful candidate will join a collaborative department of 10 faculty, including three behavior analysts, within the College of Nursing and Health Professions. The on-campus M.S. degree program in Applied Behavior Analysis is accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International Accreditation Board (ABAI). The program integrates rigorous coursework with hands-on clinical training through our on-site ABA clinic and pediatric feeding program, providing rich opportunities for student internships and applied research. Strong interdisciplinary collaboration with Counseling faculty enhances both teaching and scholarship.
Faculty benefit from a supportive academic environment that values teaching excellence, student mentorship, and research productivity. The curriculum includes an integrated Thesis research sequence culminating in publication-quality projects for all students. Institutional support is available for research, instructional innovation, and professional development, including endowed professorships, technology enhancement awards, and conference travel funding. This position offers a flexible workload with a mix of face-to-face and online teaching, as well as optional summer teaching opportunities. We welcome applications from candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a closely related field (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply) and are certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or BCBA-D. Position Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- supervision of student research (e.g., theses and other projects)
- supervision (e.g., practicum/internship) of students enrolled in our Association for Behavior Analysis International Accreditation Board (ABAI) accredited master’s concentration in ABA
- university and community service
- advising
- modeling ethical behavior
- research/scholarship
Assistant Professors will work closely with students and faculty in the Department of Psychology and Counseling. The expectation is that the majority of this work will be conducted in-person. Primary duties are centered around teaching and involvement in our ABA graduate concentration. Opportunities for publication quality research and collaboration with our skilled clinical staff are also available within the program via our on-site ABA clinic. Successful candidates are expected to behave in accordance with the overall mission and philosophy of our University and graduate program.

Required/Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Required:
- Doctorate in applied behavior analysis, behavior analysis, psychology, or a closely related discipline (or eligibility from accredited institution by the time of appointment)
- Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by time of appointment.
- Teaching experience in behavior analytic content at either the undergraduate or graduate level
Preferred:
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctoral (BCBA-D) certification (or eligibility by time of appointment)
- In-person teaching experience in behavior analytic content at both the undergraduate and graduate level
- Teaching experience in online or web-hybrid course delivery clinical training and experience in ABA settings
