Search Retail Jobs in MassachusettsRetail H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
Which retail companies sponsor H-1B visas in Massachusetts?
TJX Companies, headquartered in Framingham, is one of the most active H-1B visa sponsors in Massachusetts retail, filing petitions for roles in data science, software engineering, and merchandising analytics. Wayfair, based in Boston, regularly sponsors H-1B workers in technology and product roles. Staples, also headquartered in the state, has a history of H-1B filings for corporate and technical positions. Sponsorship is concentrated in corporate headquarters roles, not store-level positions.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most retail H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Boston and its immediate metro area account for the largest share of retail H-1B roles in Massachusetts, driven by corporate headquarters and technology offices located there. Framingham is significant specifically because of TJX Companies' global headquarters. Cambridge sees activity from retail-adjacent technology and e-commerce firms. Store-level positions statewide do not qualify for H-1B sponsorship, so opportunities are concentrated in these corporate and tech hubs.
What types of retail roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship requires a specialty occupation, meaning the role must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In retail, qualifying positions typically include software engineers, data analysts, data scientists, supply chain analysts, digital marketing managers, and financial analysts working within a retailer's corporate structure. General merchandise, sales associate, store management, and customer service roles do not meet the specialty occupation standard and are not H-1B eligible.
How do I find retail H-1B sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa type, industry, and state, making it straightforward to browse retail H-1B sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts without sorting through roles that won't lead to a petition. Focus your search on corporate and technology functions within retailers, as those are the positions that meet H-1B specialty occupation requirements. Migrate Mate also provides context on which employers have an active sponsorship history.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for retail H-1B sponsorship?
Massachusetts has a high concentration of retail corporate headquarters relative to most states, which increases the number of H-1B-eligible roles available compared to states where retailers only operate stores. The state's strong technology sector means retail companies here often compete for the same technical talent as other industries, which can make H-1B filings more common in roles like data engineering and software development. Massachusetts also has no state-level restrictions that affect the federal H-1B process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B retail jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
