Which investment management companies sponsor H-1B visas in Massachusetts?
Boston-based firms are among the most consistent H-1B sponsors in investment management nationally. Fidelity Investments, State Street Global Advisors, Wellington Management, Putnam Investments, and GMO have all filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications in recent years. Larger custodial and asset servicing firms like Northern Trust and BNY Mellon also maintain a significant Massachusetts presence with documented sponsorship activity across investment and operations roles.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Boston is by far the dominant hub, home to the majority of the state's asset management firms, hedge funds, and institutional investors. Cambridge sees activity from quantitative and technology-focused investment firms, particularly those with ties to MIT and Harvard. Smaller clusters exist in suburbs like Waltham and Burlington, where back-office and operations functions for larger investment companies are sometimes located.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in investment management generally applies to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles that commonly meet this standard include quantitative analyst, portfolio analyst, risk analyst, investment research associate, financial engineer, and compliance analyst. Positions with a clear degree requirement in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or computer science are most straightforward to sponsor under H-1B criteria.
How do I find investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and state, so you can search directly for H-1B-sponsored investment management roles in Massachusetts without manually screening each posting. The platform aggregates positions from employers with documented sponsorship activity, which is particularly useful in a specialized field like asset management where not every firm openly advertises sponsorship in the job description.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in investment management?
Massachusetts has no state-level visa rules, but the concentration of registered investment advisers and mutual fund companies here means H-1B filings in this industry are relatively common compared to most states. Many Boston-area firms are experienced sponsors with established immigration counsel. However, smaller boutique asset managers and hedge funds may have less infrastructure for sponsorship, so it is worth researching a firm's prior H-1B filing history before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B investment management jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
