Which investment management companies sponsor H-1B visas in Oregon?
Portland-based firms are the primary source of H-1B sponsorship in Oregon's investment management sector. Parametric Portfolio Associates, a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, has a significant presence in Portland and has filed H-1B petitions for quantitative and analytical roles. Regional financial institutions with asset management arms, including Umpqua Bank and Pacific Premier Bank, also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for investment-related positions.
Which cities in Oregon have the most investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the overwhelming majority of investment management H-1B sponsorship activity in Oregon. It hosts the state's largest concentration of financial services firms, institutional asset managers, and fintech companies with investment functions. Outside Portland, Beaverton and Lake Oswego have a smaller number of financial advisory and wealth management firms, but H-1B sponsorship activity in those markets is considerably more limited compared to the Portland metro area.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that routinely qualify for H-1B sponsorship in investment management include quantitative analyst, portfolio analyst, risk analyst, financial engineer, and investment research associate. These positions generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or computer science, satisfying the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to H-1B petitions. Generalist roles where no specific degree field is required are less likely to qualify.
How do I find investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters investment management roles in Oregon by H-1B visa sponsorship, which removes the need to manually screen employers by their sponsorship history. Rather than sorting through general job listings, you can search directly for Oregon-based investment management employers that have sponsored H-1B workers, including portfolio analyst, quantitative research, and risk management roles concentrated in the Portland metro area.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in investment management?
Oregon's investment management sector is smaller than financial hubs like New York or Chicago, which means fewer total H-1B sponsors operate in the state. Most active sponsors are large national firms with Portland offices rather than locally headquartered boutiques. Oregon also has no state income tax deduction rules that uniquely affect employer sponsorship decisions, but the limited pool of participating firms means competition for sponsored roles in this industry is concentrated among a smaller number of employers compared to major financial centers.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B investment management jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
