Search Agriculture Jobs in MassachusettsAgriculture H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2B visas in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts H-2B agriculture sponsors tend to be concentrated among cranberry operations on Cape Cod and the South Shore, vegetable farms in the Pioneer Valley near Hadley and Deerfield, and nursery and greenhouse businesses on the North Shore. Sod farms and turf operations in central and eastern Massachusetts also appear regularly in DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data. Sponsoring employers range from family-owned farms to mid-size agricultural operations with consistent seasonal labor needs.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs?
The Pioneer Valley corridor, covering Hadley, Deerfield, Sunderland, and Northampton in Hampshire and Franklin counties, consistently shows the highest concentration of agriculture H-2B filings in Massachusetts. Cape Cod towns including Carver, Wareham, and Middleborough are active hubs for cranberry and berry operations. Ipswich, Newbury, and Rowley on the North Shore generate nursery and greenhouse filings, while Millis and Medway in Norfolk County see turf and sod farm activity.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural work, so qualifying agriculture-adjacent roles in Massachusetts typically include nursery workers, greenhouse laborers, sod farm hands, landscaping crew members, and turf maintenance workers. Crop harvesting roles on vegetable farms can qualify when the work is classified as non-H-2A visa labor. Employers must demonstrate to DOL that the position is seasonal or peak-load in nature, that no sufficient U.S. workers are available, and that the need is genuinely temporary, not permanent.
How do I find agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate aggregates H-2B agriculture job listings filtered by verified employer filing history, so you can search specifically for Massachusetts agriculture operations that have petitioned DOL for H-2B workers. Filter by the Agriculture and Farming category and the Massachusetts location to surface active and recent postings from cranberry, vegetable, nursery, and turf employers across the state. Checking employer filing history through Migrate Mate helps confirm a company has a track record of completing the H-2B sponsorship process.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2B agriculture sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts enforces its own Wage Act alongside federal DOL prevailing wage requirements, so H-2B workers in the state are protected by both frameworks. Employers in the cranberry and vegetable sectors often file petitions tied to very specific seasonal windows, meaning job start dates and durations are closely tied to harvest calendars. Workers should also be aware that Massachusetts agriculture positions can include both H-2A and H-2B classifications depending on the crop and employer, and the two visa categories carry different eligibility rules and protections.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B agriculture jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
