Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician I performs routine maintenance and repair activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role helps ensure the proper functioning of facility infrastructure and manufacturing equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs. The technician may assist in training new employees and provide operational support to the maintenance team as needed.
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician I supports the day-to-day maintenance of plant equipment, utilities, and facilities to ensure consistent operational performance. Responsibilities include conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as supporting instrumentation and control devices. The role assists with upkeep of building infrastructure, grounds, and utilities, and participates in monitoring critical systems such as HVAC, boilers, compressors, thermal systems, and cooling towers.
2nd Shift (2: 00p-10:30p); Training on 1st shift 4-6 weeks Union Pay: $22.87
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on facility and production equipment, including HVAC units, boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, and process systems.
- Assisting with plumbing, electrical, and instrumentation tasks, including equipment calibration, motor control, valve maintenance, and control wiring checks.
- Supporting installation, assembly, and maintenance of piping systems, steam supply, condensate return, process water, and related plant utilities.
- Monitoring and documenting routine testing for boilers, cooling water, and other critical systems; preparing equipment for inspections.
- Maintaining facility interiors, exteriors, and grounds, and supporting the coordination and oversight of contractors performing on-site work.
- Supporting inventory management of parts and tools, keeping maintenance areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Assisting with the preparation of maintenance plans, documentation, and compliance requirements, including permits and equipment manuals.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying equipment or process enhancements.
- The Maintenance Technician I works closely with operations and maintenance leadership to support safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- The associate will be working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- The noise level in the environment is sometimes loud.
- The associate may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Education, Experience, Skills & Competencies:
5 years of mechanical maintenance experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret work orders, blueprints, SOPs, work instructions, etc.
- General computer skills, including e-mail and Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills
Training certifications (or completed apprenticeships) in the areas listed below are highly preferred:
- General industrial plumbing
- General industrial electric
- Pneumatic controls
- HVAC
- High-Pressure Boiler Operator
- Welding
- Carpentry
- Waste Water Operator
