Which media & entertainment companies sponsor visas in Michigan?
Major sponsors include Quicken Loans Media in Detroit, FOX Sports Detroit, and film production companies utilizing Michigan's tax incentive program. Detroit's advertising agencies like Team Detroit (Ford's agency) and broadcast stations across Metro Detroit also sponsor H-1B visas for technical positions, digital marketing roles, and specialized creative staff.
How to find media & entertainment visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate specializes in media and entertainment visa sponsorship opportunities throughout Michigan, with filters for Detroit, Grand Rapids, and other key markets. The platform tracks openings at production companies, broadcast stations, and creative agencies that have sponsored visas previously, making it easier to target employers with established sponsorship programs.
Which visa types are most common for media & entertainment roles in Michigan?
H-1B visas dominate for technical roles like video editors, sound engineers, and digital marketing specialists at Michigan's media companies. O-1 visas are common for directors, producers, and creative talent working on film productions utilizing the state's tax incentives. TN visas also apply for Canadian citizens in qualifying technical positions.
Which cities in Michigan have the most media & entertainment sponsorship jobs?
Detroit leads with broadcast stations, advertising agencies, and film production companies concentrated in the metro area. Grand Rapids offers opportunities at regional media companies and growing creative agencies. Ann Arbor provides positions at university media departments and student-focused production companies, while Traverse City hosts film festival-related opportunities.
What prevailing wage considerations apply to media jobs in Michigan?
Michigan's lower cost of living compared to coastal markets affects prevailing wages for sponsored positions. Detroit area rates for technical roles like video editors and producers are generally 15-20% below comparable positions in Los Angeles or New York, which can make H-1B sponsorship more feasible for smaller production companies and regional broadcasters.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored media & entertainment jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
