Which medical devices companies in Michigan sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Stryker, headquartered in Kalamazoo, is among the most consistent medical devices employers with F-1 STEM OPT hiring history in Michigan. Other active employers include Autocam Medical in Grand Rapids and various contract manufacturers and OEM suppliers clustered in West Michigan. Filing history through DOL Labor Condition Applications gives the clearest picture of which specific employers have active sponsorship programs.
Which Michigan cities have the most medical devices F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Kalamazoo leads given Stryker's large engineering and operations footprint there. Grand Rapids has a dense cluster of medical device contract manufacturers and suppliers. The Detroit metro area, particularly Auburn Hills and Ann Arbor, draws biomedical and regulatory roles tied to both established device companies and university-adjacent startups. West Michigan overall concentrates the highest volume of STEM OPT-eligible device roles in the state.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles with a clear STEM degree requirement are the most straightforward candidates. In Michigan's medical devices sector, that typically includes biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, quality systems engineering, regulatory affairs, manufacturing engineering, and R&D positions. Software and data roles within device companies, such as embedded systems or software quality assurance, also commonly qualify when tied to a STEM-classified degree program under the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List.
How do I find medical devices F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters medical devices jobs in Michigan specifically for F-1 STEM OPT candidates, surfacing employers with verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history so you can prioritize companies that have actually sponsored STEM OPT workers before. Search by city, role type, or company size to narrow results. Cross-referencing employer LCA data helps confirm sponsorship activity before investing time in an application.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in medical devices?
Michigan employers in medical devices are often subject to FDA quality system regulations, which means roles in quality assurance and regulatory affairs carry compliance expectations that can make degree-match documentation especially important for STEM OPT purposes. Michigan also has a significant tier of smaller contract manufacturers where formal immigration infrastructure may be less developed than at large OEMs like Stryker, so confirming an employer's prior sponsorship history before applying is a practical step.
