Which airlines companies sponsor Green Card visas in Michigan?
Delta Air Lines is the dominant employer at Detroit Metro Airport and has an established record of PERM labor certification filings in Michigan. Ground handling contractors such as Unifi Aviation and cargo operators with DTW operations also appear in DOL sponsorship data. Regional carriers serving Michigan routes have sponsored maintenance and operations roles, though sponsorship frequency varies significantly by employer size and role classification.
Which cities in Michigan have the most airlines Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and Romulus, which sits adjacent to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, account for the large majority of Michigan's airlines Green Card sponsorship activity. Romulus-based roles tied directly to DTW ramp, cargo, and maintenance operations generate the most PERM filings. Grand Rapids Gerald R. Ford International Airport represents a secondary market, though sponsorship volume there is considerably smaller than the Detroit metro area.
What types of airlines roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship?
Roles requiring specialized credentials or degrees tend to generate the most PERM filings in the airlines sector. Aircraft maintenance technicians holding FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificates, avionics engineers, flight operations analysts, air traffic systems specialists, and airline network planning or revenue management analysts commonly appear in sponsorship data. General customer service and ramp agent positions rarely qualify because the employer must demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available.
How do I find airlines Green Card sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, letting you search airlines roles in Michigan where employers have a documented history of Green Card sponsorship. Because PERM labor certification requires employers to conduct formal recruitment before filing, using a platform built around sponsorship verification saves significant time compared to manually reviewing individual job postings. Search Migrate Mate for airlines positions in the Detroit metro area to see currently active opportunities matched to Green Card sponsorship history.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in the airlines industry?
Michigan's airlines sponsorship market is heavily shaped by DTW's status as a Delta hub, meaning sponsorship activity follows Delta's hiring cycles and union agreements, which can affect whether a given role is eligible for PERM filing. The state does not impose additional licensing requirements beyond federal FAA certification for most technical roles. Prevailing wage levels for Michigan aviation positions are determined by DOL using the OFLC Wage Search tool, and Detroit metro wages differ from those set for smaller Michigan airports.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card airlines jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
