Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2B visas in Minnesota?
Minnesota agriculture employers that have appeared in OFLC H-2B disclosure data include nursery and greenhouse operations, sod farms, berry and vegetable growers, and large-scale crop farms in the Red River Valley and southern Minnesota. Sponsorship history does not guarantee current openings. Reviewing OFLC disclosure data by employer name and county gives the most current picture of which operations have filed certified H-2B applications.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs?
H-2B agriculture filings in Minnesota are concentrated in the Red River Valley region near Moorhead and Crookston, the southern agricultural belt around Owatonna, Worthington, and Albert Lea, and the Twin Cities metro fringe where nursery and landscaping employers operate. Rural counties with intensive vegetable, berry, or sod production tend to generate the highest volume of certified H-2B positions for seasonal field and greenhouse work.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural and agricultural work that is seasonal, peak-load, intermittent, or a one-time occurrence. In Minnesota, qualifying agriculture-adjacent roles include nursery workers, greenhouse laborers, sod cutters, landscape crew members, and harvest workers for fruit and vegetable operations. Roles tied to planting and harvest seasons fit the seasonal need standard. USCIS and DOL both review whether the position genuinely meets the temporary need requirement before certification.
How do I find agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate surfaces verified H-2B employer filing history so you can identify Minnesota agriculture operations that have sponsored workers in the past. Filter by state, visa type, and the Agriculture and Farming industry tag to see relevant listings. Because H-2B allocations are cap-subject and seasonal, checking early in the calendar year and monitoring new postings regularly improves your chances of finding an open position before a cap is reached.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-2B agriculture sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota agriculture employers must pay the applicable prevailing wage set through the OFLC Wage Search for the specific occupation and county. The state's short growing season means most H-2B positions run from spring through fall, and employers must demonstrate U.S. workers were recruited before filing. Cold-weather conditions also mean some operations stagger start dates by crop type. Workers should confirm the exact employment period and housing arrangements with the sponsoring employer before accepting an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B agriculture jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
