Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor H-1B visas in Missouri?
Boeing's Saint Louis operations, which focus heavily on military aircraft programs, have been among the most active H-1B sponsors in Missouri's aerospace sector. Honeywell, Leidos, General Dynamics IT, and Northrop Grumman also maintain a Missouri presence and have filed H-1B petitions for technical and engineering roles. Smaller defense contractors and government subcontractors in the state may sponsor selectively for specialized positions.
Which cities in Missouri have the most aerospace and defense H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Saint Louis is by far the largest hub, home to Boeing Defense, Space and Security and a broad network of aerospace suppliers and defense technology firms. Kansas City has a meaningful defense contracting presence, particularly in IT and logistics support roles. Springfield and the southern Missouri corridor host a smaller concentration of advanced manufacturing and systems integration employers with occasional H-1B sponsorship activity.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Missouri?
H-1B sponsorship in aerospace and defense typically applies to roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Aerospace engineers, systems engineers, software engineers, avionics specialists, structural analysts, electrical engineers, and cybersecurity professionals working on defense platforms are common categories. Program management and systems integration roles can also qualify when the position requires a directly relevant engineering or technical degree.
How do I find aerospace and defense H-1B sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B sponsorship, making it a direct way to browse aerospace and defense roles in Missouri without filtering through positions that don't sponsor. You can search by visa type, industry, and state to surface employers actively hiring internationally. Given the security clearance requirements common in defense roles, checking each employer's citizenship requirements before applying is important.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Missouri's aerospace sector?
A significant portion of Missouri aerospace and defense work involves U.S. government contracts that require security clearances. Most active clearances require U.S. citizenship, which means H-1B holders are often limited to unclassified or commercial program roles. Employers working on both classified and commercial programs, such as Boeing's commercial technology divisions, are generally more accessible to sponsored candidates. Confirming clearance requirements before applying saves considerable time.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B aerospace & defense jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
