Which biotech and pharma companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Nebraska?
Nebraska-based employers with documented OPT hiring patterns include Streck, a Omaha-based hematology and clinical controls company, along with contract research organizations and agricultural biotech firms tied to the University of Nebraska system. Large healthcare networks such as CHI Health and Nebraska Medicine also maintain life sciences research divisions that have hired OPT candidates in laboratory and clinical research roles.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most biotech and pharma F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Omaha and Lincoln account for the large majority of biotech and pharma OPT opportunities in Nebraska. Lincoln benefits from Nebraska Innovation Campus, a university-connected research hub that attracts biotech startups and established firms. Omaha's larger commercial base supports pharmaceutical distribution, clinical laboratory, and medical device roles. Smaller clusters exist near agricultural biotech operations in Grand Island and Norfolk.
What types of biotech and pharma roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Nebraska?
Roles that regularly qualify include research associate, quality control analyst, regulatory affairs specialist, bioinformatics analyst, and clinical research coordinator. These positions typically require a degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related STEM field. STEM OPT extension eligibility is particularly relevant here, as it allows graduates in qualifying programs to extend their work authorization from 12 months to 36 months.

Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, so you can search for biotech and pharma F-1 OPT positions in Nebraska without sorting through listings that do not sponsor. The platform surfaces employers in Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding areas that have a history of hiring OPT candidates, which saves significant time compared to manually researching individual company sponsorship policies.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in biotech and pharma?
Nebraska's biotech sector leans heavily on agricultural biotechnology and clinical laboratory services, so OPT candidates with backgrounds in crop science, genomics, or diagnostic testing may find stronger employer interest here than in states focused on biopharma manufacturing.
