Most automotive sponsorship roles focus on engineering, manufacturing engineering, and technical specialist positions.
What visa types are most common for automotive jobs in New Jersey?
H-1B visas dominate automotive sponsorship in New Jersey, particularly for mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing engineers. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican automotive professionals, while O-1 visas occasionally apply to senior executives or specialized technical experts. Camden leads automotive sponsorship opportunities due to Subaru of America's headquarters and major suppliers. Newark and Trenton follow with significant manufacturing and logistics operations. How do New Jersey automotive wages compare for visa sponsorship roles?
New Jersey automotive professionals on sponsored visas typically earn above national automotive averages due to the state's high cost of living and concentration of advanced manufacturing facilities. What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automotive jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
