Position Specific Description
The Scheduler is responsible for the daily and monthly scheduling of natural gas for a growing retail natural gas portfolio, ensuring reliable, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of supply through interstate pipelines and local distribution companies (LDCs). This role requires hands-on pipeline and utility scheduling experience and is well suited for a candidate based in New Jersey with strong knowledge of the Northeast natural gas market, including regional pipelines, utility operations, and winter reliability dynamics. Candidates located in Juno Beach, Florida may also be considered. The Scheduler works closely with Trading, Supply, Pricing, Risk, and Back Office teams to support bidweek execution, daily balancing, imbalance management, and monthly settlement activities while ensuring compliance with applicable pipeline and LDC tariffs, NAESB standards, and internal risk policies.
Job Overview
This position is responsible for executing and managing natural gas transportation and delivery for retail customer load obligations. The Scheduler ensures that nominations, confirmations, and flow adjustments are completed accurately and on time across all nomination cycles. The role may also support training or provide guidance to less experienced schedulers and plays a critical role during high demand periods, including winter weather events and system constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit and manage daily and monthly natural gas nominations on interstate pipelines and LDC scheduling systems
- Monitor scheduled versus actual volumes and make timely intra-day adjustments across NAESB nomination cycles
- Manage daily and monthly balancing to minimize imbalances, penalties, and operational risk
- Coordinate with pipelines and utilities during maintenance events, OFOs, constraints, and non-routine operating conditions
- Support bidweek activities, including demand validation, nomination setup, and post bidweek execution
- Verify portfolio accuracy, including scheduled volumes, confirmations, and usage actuals
- Provide alternate routing and scheduling solutions to ensure contractual delivery obligations are met
- Generate accurate and timely operational reports to support balancing, risk oversight, and management reporting
- Assist Back Office with monthly close activities, invoice validation, and shadow settlement
- Maintain compliance with internal Risk Management policies, pipeline tariffs, and utility operating procedures
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with pipeline representatives, utilities, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Participate in afterhours, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation as required
- Support operations during critical events, including extreme weather and system emergencies
- Perform other job related duties as assigned

- Generates accurate and timely reports for all responsibility areas to balance and manage physical controlled business
- Inputs, verifies, and adjusts physical flows and transported volumes into computerized management system
- Verifies accuracy of portfolio, assists back office with monthly closing process
- Provides alternate routing to ensure contractual obligations met
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The estimated base pay for this position is $84,800.00 to $127,200.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
