The Senior PCB Layout Engineer contributes to the design and delivery of high-performance printed circuit boards that support scalable and manufacturable optical engine platforms. This role connects schematic intent with physical implementation to ensure reliable, high-quality hardware outcomes.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
How you will make an impact:
- Execute complex PCB layouts for high-speed, high-density designs aligned with performance and manufacturability requirements
- Develop and manage detailed layout files, including multi-layer PCB designs, ceramic and organic substrates, and advanced packaging structures
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define PCB floor plans, constraints, and design parameters
- Integrate signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal considerations into PCB layout implementations
- Conduct design reviews to validate layout quality and alignment with project specifications
- Coordinate with manufacturing partners to enable prototype builds, high-volume production, and issue resolution
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience executing PCB layout for high-speed and high-density designs
- Utilization of PCB design tools such as Allegro PCB Design, DeHDL, Allegro APD (Advanced Packaging Developer), or equivalent tools
- Application of PCB fabrication processes and design for manufacturability principles
- Application of signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management practices in PCB design
- Demonstrated communication and collaboration within cross-functional engineering environments
COMPENSATION
Pay Range: The annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $191,600.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
