Which agriculture companies sponsor E-3 visas in New York?
New York agribusinesses that have filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles include horticultural operations on Long Island, agronomy and soil science firms in the Hudson Valley, and food science companies near Albany and Rochester. Cornell University's agricultural research divisions have also sponsored specialty occupation positions. Filing history is publicly available through the DOL's OFLC disclosure data, which you can search by employer name and occupation.
Which cities in New York have the most agriculture E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Upstate New York, particularly the Finger Lakes, Capital Region, and Western New York near Buffalo, concentrates the heaviest agricultural employment, including viticulture, dairy science, and crop management roles. Long Island supports horticulture and nursery operations with documented specialty occupation hiring. New York City area food technology and agribusiness firms also post roles in food science and agricultural supply chain management that have qualified for E-3 sponsorship.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship in agriculture requires the position to meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning it must normally require at least a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific field. Roles that commonly qualify include agronomist, soil scientist, food scientist, agricultural engineer, horticulturist, viticulture specialist, and agricultural research scientist. General farming, seasonal labor, and supervisory roles that do not require a specific degree field typically do not qualify for E-3 classification.
How do I find agriculture E-3 sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lists agriculture roles from New York employers with verified E-3 LCA filing history, so you can focus on positions where sponsorship is already established rather than asking employers cold. Filter by industry and state to surface agronomy, food science, horticulture, and agricultural research roles specifically. Confirming an employer's prior LCA filings through the OFLC Wage Search can also help you prioritize outreach to companies already familiar with the E-3 process.
Are there any state-specific considerations for agriculture E-3 jobs in New York?
New York imposes its own agricultural labor regulations, including state-level minimum wage requirements that may affect prevailing wage calculations for LCA purposes. The state's strong presence in regulated industries like viticulture and organic certification can create additional credentialing expectations for specialist roles. Australian degrees in agricultural science are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but employers in research-oriented positions, particularly those affiliated with Cornell Cooperative Extension, may expect postgraduate qualifications.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 agriculture jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
