Which artificial intelligence companies sponsor H-1B visas in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle is home to several consistent H-1B sponsors in AI, including SAS Institute, IBM, Lenovo, and Red Hat. Charlotte's growing fintech sector includes Bank of America and Ally Financial, both of which have filed H-1B petitions for AI and data science roles. Research universities such as Duke and UNC also sponsor H-1B positions for applied AI research staff.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham, together forming the core of the Research Triangle, account for the highest concentration of AI H-1B sponsorship activity in North Carolina. Research Triangle Park hosts dozens of technology firms with active AI divisions. Charlotte follows as a secondary hub, particularly for AI roles in financial services, analytics, and enterprise software. Smaller clusters exist in Cary and Chapel Hill.
What types of artificial intelligence roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that routinely qualify include machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI research scientist, natural language processing engineer, and computer vision specialist. Each must meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard, meaning the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, statistics, or electrical engineering. Applied AI roles tied to software development or research generally satisfy this requirement.
How do I find artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters AI job listings specifically by H-1B sponsorship history, so you can identify North Carolina employers who have actively filed Labor Condition Applications for AI-related roles rather than guessing at sponsorship willingness. Searching by industry and state on Migrate Mate surfaces companies in Raleigh, Durham, and Charlotte with documented H-1B filing activity, which is more reliable than relying on general job postings that may not reflect actual sponsorship capacity.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in North Carolina's AI sector?
North Carolina does not impose state-level restrictions on H-1B sponsorship, but employers must comply with federal prevailing wage requirements set by DOL for the relevant occupation and geographic area. AI roles in the Research Triangle often fall under different wage tiers than comparable positions in Charlotte due to local wage surveys. Employers can verify applicable prevailing wages using the OFLC Wage Search tool before filing a Labor Condition Application.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B artificial intelligence jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
