Which education employers in Ohio sponsor E-3 visas?
Ohio's largest education E-3 visa sponsors include Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, University of Cincinnati, and Ohio University. Large K-12 districts such as Columbus City Schools and Cleveland Metropolitan School District have also sponsored work visas for qualified educators. Private higher education institutions like Kenyon College and Denison University occasionally sponsor E-3 roles in research, faculty, and instructional design positions.
Which Ohio cities have the most education E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for education E-3 openings, driven by Ohio State University and a dense cluster of charter and private schools. Cleveland follows, with Case Western Reserve University and several large K-12 districts. Cincinnati and Athens also generate sponsorship opportunities through the University of Cincinnati and Ohio University respectively. Smaller university towns like Oxford (Miami University) and Bowling Green add further options outside the major metros.
What types of education roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles qualifying for E-3 sponsorship must meet the specialty occupation standard, requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In Ohio's education sector, this commonly includes university faculty and lecturers, instructional designers, curriculum developers, education researchers, academic advisors with specialized credentials, and educational technology specialists. General teaching aide or paraprofessional positions that do not require a specific bachelor's degree typically do not qualify.
How do I find education E-3 sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find education E-3 sponsorship jobs in Ohio, since the platform filters specifically for employers who sponsor E-3 visas in the education sector across Ohio cities. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship willingness is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles from universities, school districts, and education companies that have a verified history of E-3 sponsorship, saving significant research time.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for E-3 education sponsorship?
Ohio public universities operate under state employment rules that can affect hiring timelines, so E-3 applicants should expect longer onboarding processes compared to private employers. Ohio's academic hiring cycle typically concentrates offers between February and May for fall start dates, meaning E-3 applications often need to be initiated well before a September start. Additionally, roles at federally funded research institutions may require background checks that add processing time beyond the standard E-3 consular appointment window.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 education jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
