Which medical devices companies sponsor E-3 visas in Ohio?
Ohio-based medical devices employers with documented E-3 and broader specialty occupation LCA filing history include Philips Healthcare (Cleveland), Steris Corporation (Mentor), and Invacare (Elyria). Larger contract manufacturers and hospital supply companies headquartered in the state also file Labor Condition Applications for engineering and regulatory roles. Filing history varies by year and role, so confirming an employer's current sponsorship activity before applying is advisable.
Which cities in Ohio have the most medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Cleveland leads Ohio for medical devices sponsorship activity, anchored by Philips, Steris, and a strong network of medical manufacturing suppliers in the northeastern corridor. Columbus follows as a growing hub, supported by Ohio State University's medical research partnerships and device commercialization firms. Dayton has a smaller but active base tied to defense-adjacent medical technology. Smaller clusters exist in Akron and Cincinnati for polymer and materials-based device manufacturing.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify are those classified as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, meaning they require at least a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent in a directly related field. In medical devices, this commonly includes biomedical engineers, quality engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, clinical affairs associates, software engineers working on device firmware, and research and development scientists. General assembly or technician roles that do not require a specific degree generally do not qualify.
How do I find medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship and lets you search by industry and state, making it straightforward to identify Ohio medical devices employers actively hiring Australian nationals. Because E-3 sponsorship requires an employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before you apply, focusing on companies with verified LCA filing history saves significant time. Migrate Mate surfaces that filing data alongside current openings so you can apply with confidence.
Are there Ohio-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in medical devices?
Ohio does not impose additional state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal E-3 standards. However, medical devices roles in Ohio frequently require familiarity with FDA quality system regulations and, for some positions, Ohio state-specific professional licensing for engineers or clinical personnel. Employers in the northeastern Ohio manufacturing corridor tend to prioritize candidates with quality management system experience, particularly ISO 13485, which is worth highlighting in applications for E-3-sponsored positions.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 medical devices jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
