Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor Green Card visas in Ohio?
GE Aerospace, headquartered in Evendale, is one of Ohio's most active Green Card sponsors in the aerospace sector. Other employers with a documented history of sponsorship in Ohio include Raytheon Technologies, L3Harris, Northrop Grumman, and smaller defense contractors clustered around Dayton and Columbus. Sponsorship activity is most concentrated among large prime contractors and their Ohio-based subsidiaries, particularly those holding long-term Department of Defense contracts.
Which cities in Ohio have the most aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Dayton leads the state, driven by proximity to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the dense network of defense contractors it supports. Cincinnati is the second major center, anchored by GE Aerospace's Evendale campus. Columbus also has a growing defense presence tied to government agencies and research institutions. Smaller concentrations exist in Akron and Cleveland, particularly in aerospace manufacturing and advanced materials.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles that typically attract Green Card sponsorship in Ohio's aerospace and defense sector include aerospace engineers, systems engineers, avionics specialists, software engineers supporting defense programs, propulsion researchers, and program managers. Positions requiring advanced degrees in engineering, physics, or computer science are most commonly sponsored. Research-oriented roles tied to AFRL (Air Force Research Laboratory) partnerships in Dayton also appear regularly among sponsored positions.
How do I find aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate aggregates aerospace and defense jobs in Ohio where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship, letting you filter specifically by visa type and industry rather than manually scanning general job boards. Because sponsorship availability changes frequently with contract cycles and hiring freezes common in defense, using Migrate Mate to monitor active Ohio aerospace listings gives you a more targeted and current view of what's actually available.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in aerospace and defense in Ohio?
Security clearance requirements are a significant factor in Ohio's defense sector. Many roles at contractors near Wright-Patterson require active or adjudicated clearances, and Green Card applicants or holders can generally obtain clearances, though the process involves additional review. Ohio's aerospace employers often use EB-2 or EB-3 preference categories for sponsored employees, and PERM labor certification timelines should be factored into long-term planning. Sponsorship is more common at large prime contractors than at small subcontractors.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card aerospace & defense jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
