Which automotive companies sponsor visas in Oklahoma?
Major automotive employers in Oklahoma include General Motors' Oklahoma City assembly plant, Bridgestone Americas in Oklahoma City, and various tier-one suppliers like Johnson Controls and American Axle. These companies typically sponsor H-1B visas for engineering positions and occasionally sponsor other visa types for specialized manufacturing and quality control roles.
How to find automotive visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for automotive positions in Oklahoma that offer visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs by industry and sponsorship willingness, showing opportunities at major manufacturers like GM and suppliers throughout the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metropolitan areas.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most automotive sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City leads in automotive visa sponsorship opportunities, hosting General Motors' assembly facility and multiple tier-one suppliers. Tulsa follows with manufacturing operations and engineering centers. Smaller cities like Lawton and Norman also offer opportunities through specialized automotive component manufacturers and research facilities.
What visa types are most common for automotive roles in Oklahoma?
H-1B visas dominate automotive sponsorship in Oklahoma, particularly for mechanical engineers, quality engineers, and manufacturing engineers. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in similar roles. Some companies sponsor L-1 visas for international transfers and occasionally EB-2/EB-3 green cards for permanent positions.
Are there special considerations for automotive visa sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's automotive prevailing wages are generally lower than coastal states, which can benefit visa applicants facing wage requirements. The state's proximity to Mexico makes it attractive for automotive suppliers, creating opportunities for professionals with bilingual skills or experience in cross-border manufacturing operations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automotive jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
