Which education companies sponsor visas in Oklahoma?
Major visa sponsors in Oklahoma's education sector include University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City University, and Tulsa University. Large public school districts like Oklahoma City Public Schools, Tulsa Public Schools, and Edmond Public Schools also sponsor international teachers. Additionally, specialized institutions like Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics and various community colleges provide sponsorship opportunities.
How to find education visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international educators with Oklahoma schools and universities that sponsor visas. The platform filters positions by state and education sector, showing which employers have sponsored H-1B or other work visas for teachers, administrators, and researchers. Focus on university positions and large school districts, which have more experience with international hiring processes.
Which visa types are most common for education roles in Oklahoma?
H-1B visas are most common for university professors, researchers, and specialized teaching positions requiring advanced degrees. J-1 exchange visitor visas are frequently used for visiting scholars and international teachers in cultural exchange programs. O-1 visas occasionally apply to distinguished educators with exceptional achievements. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican educators in qualifying specialty positions.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most education sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City leads with the most opportunities due to University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City University, and the state's largest school district. Tulsa follows closely with University of Tulsa, Tulsa Community College, and Tulsa Public Schools. Norman offers positions primarily through University of Oklahoma's main campus, while Stillwater focuses on Oklahoma State University opportunities.
What are Oklahoma-specific considerations for education visa sponsorship?
Oklahoma's teacher shortage creates more sponsorship opportunities, particularly in STEM subjects and special education. The state's relatively low cost of living can impact prevailing wage determinations for H-1B applications. University positions often provide better visa support infrastructure than smaller school districts. Consider that rural districts may have limited experience with international hiring processes compared to urban institutions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored education jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
