Position Classification

The hourly rate is $15.00 which translates to $31,200.00 per year.
General Schedule
Position typically works 40 hours per week Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Position Overview:
The studio tech in this position shall provide technical skill and expertise to facilitate art studio management for the department of Art, and work with Chair and faculty members to install and maintain equipment and studio supplies. The studio tech must maintain classrooms, support the student gallery and the Melton Gallery plus collaborate with the Chair on monitoring the budget. There will be times when the studio tech will need to collaborate with faculty and staff on various projects.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Assists with maintenance of art studios/classrooms including:
- Safe operation and set up of studio equipment. Studio clean up.
- Efficiency and professional courtesy within a communal studio.
- Ensuring compliance with policies and safety procedures.
- Maintains the capital inventory of equipment and report any damage or safety issues to the Art Chairperson.
- Maintains operational inventory.
- Coordinates the ordering of materials with the studio faculty and orders materials to ensure that all required expendable materials are adequately stocked and arranges for the storage and distribution of materials.
- Assists instructors and students with special projects and material needs.
- Assists instructors with technical concerns relating to teaching.
- Develops and updates Material Safety Data sheets, equipment manuals and notebooks for all studios.
- Maintains the Student Gallery space for proper and professional student installations.
- Assist the Melton Gallery curator with installation and deinstallation of exhibitions as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
High School Diploma. Good comprehension of art processes, equipment and studio maintenance. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results. Requires basic skillset with a level of proficiency needed for position and years of relevant experience.
Experience Preferred:
Bachelor's degree with relevant experience in the field or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Strong comprehension of art processes, equipment and studio maintenance. Basic technology skills.

Skill and Behavior: Ability to listen and follow instructions; Ability to work with others in team environment; Read and comprehend instructions; Demonstrate respect in interactions; Honesty and Integrity. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in assisting students and instructors. Some knowledge of the variety of technical processes related to the needs of the Visual Arts program. Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
