Which science and research companies sponsor Green Card visas in Oklahoma?
Major sponsors in Oklahoma include the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation (now the Noble Research Institute) in Ardmore, and private energy firms with R&D divisions in Tulsa. Federal contractors supporting research at Tinker Air Force Base and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City also have established histories of filing employment-based Green Card petitions for research staff.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most science and research Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Norman account for the largest share, driven by the University of Oklahoma's research programs and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Tulsa follows, with energy-sector R&D operations and research-affiliated roles at the University of Tulsa. Stillwater is a smaller but consistent source of sponsorship through Oklahoma State University's agricultural, engineering, and biological sciences programs.
What types of science and research roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Roles that most commonly attract employer-sponsored Green Card petitions include research scientists, postdoctoral researchers, biomedical researchers, geological scientists, agricultural scientists, and materials scientists. Positions requiring a specific advanced degree in a scientific discipline, particularly where the employer documents a shortage of qualified U.S. workers through the PERM labor certification process, are the most frequent pathways in Oklahoma's research sector.
How do I find science and research Green Card sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers and filters science and research positions in Oklahoma by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card sponsorship. Rather than sorting through general job listings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor, saving significant time for researchers and scientists targeting Oklahoma-based opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Oklahoma's research sector?
Oklahoma's research economy is heavily tied to energy, agriculture, and aerospace, which shapes which employers regularly engage immigration counsel and file PERM applications. University positions often fall under the EB-1B outstanding researcher category, which bypasses PERM labor certification entirely. Researchers at Oklahoma's federally funded labs and land-grant universities should confirm whether their role qualifies under EB-1B or EB-2 before relying on a PERM-based timeline, as processing paths differ significantly.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card science & research jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
