Which animal care & pet services companies sponsor H-1B visas in Oregon?
Veterinary hospital networks operating in Oregon, including multi-location specialty and emergency practices in the Portland metro area, are among the more active H-1B visa sponsors in this industry. Oregon State University's Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine also sponsors clinical and research positions. Smaller independent practices sponsor less frequently, as the process requires significant employer investment and legal coordination.
Which cities in Oregon have the most animal care & pet services H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Portland has the highest concentration of animal care H-1B sponsorship activity, supported by specialty veterinary hospitals and a large urban pet-owning population. Corvallis is a notable secondary hub due to Oregon State University's veterinary programs. Eugene also sees periodic sponsorship through both private practices and university-affiliated clinics. Rural Oregon has very limited H-1B sponsorship activity in this sector.
What types of animal care & pet services roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in this industry generally requires a specialty occupation, meaning the role must typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Veterinarians holding a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, veterinary specialists such as veterinary surgeons and internal medicine specialists, clinical pathologists, and animal research scientists are among the roles that commonly meet this threshold. General technician or assistant roles typically do not qualify.
How do I find animal care & pet services H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, letting you search for H-1B-sponsored animal care and pet services roles in Oregon without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. You can filter by location, role type, and visa category to focus on Oregon-based veterinary hospitals, research institutions, and specialty practices that have active H-1B filing histories.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Oregon's animal care sector?
Veterinarians working in Oregon must hold a valid Oregon state veterinary license, which is issued by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board. International graduates typically need to meet U.S. licensing requirements before or alongside the H-1B process, which can affect hiring timelines. Employers in Oregon must also comply with DOL prevailing wage requirements, which vary by specialty and region within the state. Checking the OFLC Wage Search tool can clarify regional wage levels.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B animal care & pet services jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
