Which fashion and apparel companies sponsor H-1B visas in Oregon?
Nike, headquartered in Beaverton, is Oregon's largest fashion and apparel H-1B sponsor, with a consistent record of petitions for roles in design, product creation, and global merchandising. Columbia Sportswear, also based in Portland, is another significant sponsor. Smaller activewear and outdoor brands with Oregon operations occasionally sponsor as well, though their sponsorship volume is considerably lower than these two major employers.
Which cities in Oregon have the most fashion and apparel H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Portland and the surrounding metro area, including Beaverton, account for the overwhelming majority of fashion and apparel H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oregon. Nike's campus in Beaverton and Columbia Sportswear's Portland headquarters concentrate most of the demand. Outside the Portland metro, fashion and apparel H-1B sponsorship opportunities in Oregon are limited, as the state's industry presence is heavily centralized in that region.
What types of fashion and apparel roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Oregon?
Roles that typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Oregon's fashion and apparel sector require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. This includes positions in technical design, footwear development, product line management, textile engineering, and global merchandising. General retail or production coordinator roles are less likely to meet the specialty occupation threshold USCIS requires, so degree-to-role alignment is an important consideration when evaluating eligibility.
How do I find fashion and apparel H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B visa sponsorship, making it a focused resource for fashion and apparel roles in Oregon. Rather than searching general job boards and filtering manually, Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with documented sponsorship activity. You can filter by state and industry to concentrate your search on Oregon-based fashion and apparel openings from companies that have sponsored H-1B workers before.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Oregon's fashion and apparel industry?
Oregon's fashion and apparel industry is heavily oriented toward outdoor, athletic, and performance wear rather than traditional apparel manufacturing or luxury fashion. H-1B sponsorship in this sector tends to reflect that specialization, with demand concentrated in technical and product-focused functions. Oregon does not have state-level visa programs, so all H-1B sponsorship follows federal USCIS and Department of Labor requirements, including prevailing wage obligations and Labor Condition Application filing, regardless of the employer's location within the state.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B fashion & apparel jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
