Which fashion & apparel companies sponsor H-1B visas in Massachusetts?
TJX Companies, the parent of T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods, is one of the most active H-1B sponsors in Massachusetts fashion and apparel, filing petitions for roles in merchandising, buying, and product management. Wayfair, though primarily home goods, also sponsors H-1B workers in adjacent apparel and textile categories. Smaller Boston-based design studios and retail tech companies round out the employer base.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most fashion & apparel H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Greater Boston, including Framingham and Newton, accounts for the majority of fashion and apparel H-1B sponsorship activity in Massachusetts. Framingham is particularly notable as the global headquarters of TJX Companies. Boston itself hosts retail corporate offices, fashion tech startups, and e-commerce operations that sponsor H-1B workers in design, data analytics, and supply chain roles.
What types of fashion & apparel roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Massachusetts?
H-1B sponsorship in Massachusetts fashion and apparel typically applies to roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Common qualifying positions include merchandise planners, textile product developers, UX designers for retail platforms, supply chain analysts, and fashion data scientists. General retail associate or warehouse positions do not qualify, as they do not meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B classification.
How do I find fashion & apparel H-1B sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters fashion and apparel listings in Massachusetts by verified H-1B sponsorship history. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search directly for Massachusetts employers with a track record of filing H-1B petitions in this industry. Migrate Mate also provides employer-level sponsorship data to help you prioritize applications.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Massachusetts fashion and apparel?
Massachusetts has a relatively high concentration of apparel retail headquarters and fashion tech companies compared to most U.S. states, which means H-1B sponsors do exist outside of typical coastal fashion hubs like New York. However, the Massachusetts fashion sector is heavily weighted toward corporate functions, buying, and e-commerce rather than design or manufacturing. Applicants should ensure their role and degree align closely with the specialty occupation definition, as USCIS scrutinizes merchandising and business titles carefully.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B fashion & apparel jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
