General Description Of Position
Responsible to ensure a well maintained and safe work environment. Inspect various equipment and perform basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. Fix and maintain mechanical equipment, buildings, and machines. Tasks include plumbing work, painting, flooring repair and upkeep, electrical repairs and heating and air conditioning system maintenance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Schedule and track all preventive, corrective, emergency, participative, and miscellaneous maintenance activities through the Preventive Maintenance System.
- Investigates and resolves maintenance problems and directs construction, maintenance and repair activities including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and heating and cooling services.
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Let bids for new construction, maintenance or cleaning equipment, heating, cooling, or plumbing equipment and services, or obtain estimates for repair costs.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers.
- Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures.
- Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, or other wooden structures, such as sheds and outbuildings.
- Maintain adequate spare parts inventories and track with the computerized maintenance system.
