Position Overview: Ready Mix Drivers play a crucial role in our operations by operating heavy-duty gasoline or diesel-powered tandem, rear axle, or single unit vehicles to transport ready-mix, aggregate, water, materials, and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Communicate with customers and dispatch regarding product delivery and other important information.
- Safely deliver products to project locations in a timely manner.
- Perform routine maintenance and adjustments on equipment as needed.
- Secure items for transport and maintain proper load balance.
- Complete daily driver inspections and promptly report any issues to supervisors or fleet managers.
- Maintain accurate truck logs in compliance with government regulations.
- Inspect and maintain truck and construction equipment.
- Operate hand and power tools as necessary.
- Adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and participate in Company-wide safety goals.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record; CDL Class B required.
- Tanker endorsement and medical card are optional but useful.
- Forklift Operator certification (provided by Dells Materials Company).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Equipment operator experience is helpful.
- Availability for overtime and weekend work when required.
- Position is subject to seasonal winter layoff periods.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Regular standing and frequent walking.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
- Multiple entries and exits from trucks/equipment during the day.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and loud noise.
- Occasional exposure to high places, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold/heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
