Which medical devices companies sponsor F-1 OPT in Utah?
Merit Medical Systems, headquartered in South Jordan, is one of Utah's largest medical device employers and has hired international candidates in engineering and research roles. Other active employers include Natus Medical, Sorenson Communications, and various contract manufacturers in the Salt Lake Valley. USCIS LCA disclosure data shows consistent OPT and H-1B visa filings from Utah-based device manufacturers, particularly for biomedical and mechanical engineering positions.
Which cities in Utah have the most medical devices F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
The Salt Lake City metro, including South Jordan, Sandy, and Murray, holds the highest concentration of medical device employers in Utah. Ogden and the broader Weber County area also have manufacturing and R&D facilities. Provo and the Utah County tech corridor increasingly attract device startups focused on digital health and diagnostics, creating additional OPT-eligible openings for engineers and data scientists.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles in quality engineering, regulatory affairs, biomedical engineering, mechanical design, software development for embedded or medical systems, and manufacturing process engineering are the most common OPT-eligible positions in Utah's medical device sector. These roles generally require a directly related degree, which is important for STEM OPT eligibility. Quality and regulatory positions often require familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485 standards.
How do I find medical devices F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 OPT, and by industry, so you can browse verified medical devices openings in Utah without sorting through roles that don't sponsor. Because OPT timelines are fixed, Migrate Mate helps you focus quickly on employers with an established history of hiring OPT candidates in the medical technology sector.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for F-1 OPT in the medical devices industry?
Utah's medical device sector has a strong manufacturing base alongside R&D, so many roles involve on-site work rather than remote arrangements. OPT requires that employment be directly related to your degree field, which USCIS can scrutinize for production or operations roles that blend engineering with general management. Additionally, STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify, which most established Utah device manufacturers already are.
