Which cybersecurity companies sponsor H-1B visas in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's most active H-1B visa sponsors in cybersecurity include financial services firms such as Northwestern Mutual, Fiserv, and American Family Insurance, healthcare IT companies including Epic Systems, and defense and government contractors operating in the Milwaukee and Madison metro areas. Regional banks, insurance carriers, and managed security service providers have also filed Labor Condition Applications for cybersecurity roles. Sponsorship activity varies by year and is not guaranteed for any specific role or applicant.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most cybersecurity H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the largest share of cybersecurity H-1B sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Milwaukee's concentration of financial services and insurance headquarters drives demand for security analysts and engineers, while Madison benefits from Epic Systems, state government agencies, and University of Wisconsin research spin-offs. Smaller markets such as Green Bay and Waukesha have limited but growing cybersecurity employer bases, primarily tied to regional healthcare systems and manufacturing IT departments.
What types of cybersecurity roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that commonly qualify for H-1B sponsorship are those meeting the specialty occupation standard, meaning the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In cybersecurity, qualifying roles typically include information security analysts, penetration testers, security architects, cloud security engineers, threat intelligence analysts, and identity and access management specialists. Positions requiring only general IT experience without a specific degree requirement may face greater scrutiny during the H-1B petition process.
How do I find cybersecurity H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter cybersecurity jobs by H-1B sponsorship history in Wisconsin so you can focus on employers who have actually filed Labor Condition Applications for security roles in the state. You can also cross-reference employer filings through the OFLC Wage Search tool to verify sponsorship history and prevailing wage levels for specific job titles and Wisconsin locations before applying.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for cybersecurity H-1B sponsorship?
Wisconsin does not impose state-level visa requirements, but the state's dominant industries shape what cybersecurity H-1B roles look like locally. Financial services, insurance, healthcare IT, and agricultural technology firms are the primary sponsors, meaning many roles involve compliance-heavy environments such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2 frameworks. Candidates with credentials relevant to regulated industries, such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA certifications, may find their qualifications align well with Wisconsin employer expectations.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B cybersecurity jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
