Which investment management companies sponsor H-1B visas in Wisconsin?
Milwaukee-based firms are the most active H-1B sponsors in Wisconsin's investment management sector. Northwestern Mutual, Robert W. Baird & Co., and Fidelity & Guaranty Life have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for finance and investment roles. Larger institutional asset managers and insurance-linked investment arms in the state also sponsor periodically. Sponsorship activity varies by year and role, so reviewing DOL LCA disclosure data gives the most current picture of which employers are actively filing.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee accounts for the largest share of investment management H-1B sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. It's home to the state's biggest financial services firms, including wealth managers, insurance-linked investment companies, and regional broker-dealers. Madison has a smaller but active presence, particularly around institutional investment roles tied to the University of Wisconsin system and state pension administration. Green Bay and smaller markets have very limited investment management H-1B sponsorship compared to these two cities.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules are those requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position. In investment management, this commonly includes financial analysts, portfolio analysts, quantitative analysts, risk management analysts, and investment research associates. Roles in compliance, performance reporting, and investment operations may also qualify when the employer can demonstrate the position requires specialized academic training. General administrative or client service roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for H-1B sponsorship roles, including investment management positions in Wisconsin. You can filter directly by visa type, state, and industry to surface roles from employers with a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings that rarely disclose sponsorship willingness upfront. Migrate Mate's job board focuses exclusively on sponsorship-eligible opportunities, making it a practical starting point for your Wisconsin search.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in investment management?
Wisconsin does not have state-level visa or immigration programs, so H-1B sponsorship follows federal rules uniformly. One practical consideration is that Wisconsin's investment management sector is smaller than major hubs like New York or Chicago, meaning fewer employers file H-1B petitions annually. Roles tied to the Wisconsin Investment Board or university endowment functions may have public-sector hiring constraints that affect sponsorship. Candidates should focus on private sector asset managers and financial services firms in Milwaukee, where sponsorship activity is most concentrated.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B investment management jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
