Which automotive companies in Wisconsin sponsor H-1B visas?
Several Wisconsin-based manufacturers and suppliers have filed H-1B visa petitions for automotive roles. Johnson Controls (Milwaukee) sponsors engineers in battery and seating systems. Modine Manufacturing (Racine) files for thermal management engineers. Snap-on (Kenosha) sponsors software and mechanical engineers. Smaller Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers across the Fox Valley and southeastern Wisconsin also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for H-1B filings.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Milwaukee metropolitan area, including Kenosha and Racine counties, concentrates the most automotive H-1B activity due to the density of established manufacturers and corporate headquarters. The Fox Valley cities, particularly Oshkosh and Appleton, host commercial vehicle and specialty equipment suppliers that sponsor technical roles. Madison is a secondary market, with some automotive-adjacent engineering positions tied to university research partnerships and emerging mobility companies.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules generally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In Wisconsin's automotive sector, this includes mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, embedded systems developers, quality assurance engineers, and thermal or powertrain systems specialists. Program management and supply chain analyst positions with a required engineering or technical degree also appear regularly in H-1B filings from Wisconsin automotive employers.
How do I find automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search for H-1B roles in Wisconsin's automotive industry without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces roles from manufacturers and suppliers across Milwaukee, Kenosha, and the Fox Valley. Searching by the Automotive tag alongside the H-1B filter and Wisconsin as your state gives you the most targeted results available for this market.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the automotive industry?
Wisconsin's automotive employment base skews toward established Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers rather than OEM assembly plants, which affects sponsorship patterns. Suppliers with narrower engineering teams may have less institutional experience with H-1B petitions than large OEMs, so processing timelines and documentation requirements can vary significantly by employer. Prevailing wage determinations for Wisconsin automotive roles are benchmarked against Department of Labor wage data for the specific metro area, not a statewide figure.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B automotive jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
