Which automotive companies sponsor H-1B visas in Arizona?
Several major employers in Arizona have a history of filing H-1B visa petitions for automotive-related roles. Lucid Motors operates its manufacturing plant in Casa Grande, Intel supports automotive chip development in Chandler, and General Motors has technology and engineering operations in the Phoenix area. Tier-1 suppliers and autonomous vehicle testing companies also sponsor H-1B workers, particularly for engineering and software positions.
Which cities in Arizona have the most automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Phoenix metropolitan area, including Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Mesa, concentrates most of Arizona's automotive H-1B activity, driven by semiconductor firms supporting automotive applications and emerging mobility companies. Casa Grande, located between Phoenix and Tucson, is significant due to Lucid Motors' factory presence. Tucson also has engineering and research roles tied to the University of Arizona's technology partnerships.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in the automotive sector generally applies to specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Common qualifying positions include automotive software engineers, embedded systems engineers, hardware validation engineers, autonomous vehicle perception engineers, manufacturing process engineers, and electrical engineers. General labor, assembly, or production roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B eligibility.
How do I find automotive H-1B sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, industry, and state, making it straightforward to browse automotive H-1B opportunities in Arizona without sifting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter directly for automotive positions in Arizona, see which employers have active openings, and focus your applications on companies with a verified sponsorship history.
Are there any Arizona-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the automotive industry?
Arizona's status as a leading autonomous vehicle testing corridor, supported by permissive state regulations, has attracted companies that frequently hire international engineers, increasing the volume of H-1B filings in the sector. The state has no personal income tax on wages starting in 2023 under a flat-rate structure, which can be relevant context when evaluating offers. Employers in Casa Grande and the greater Phoenix area may also require onsite attendance, so relocation planning is an important practical consideration.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B automotive jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
