Tips for Finding H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Wisconsin
Target Wisconsin's dominant health systems
UW Health, Froedtert Health, and Advocate Aurora Health are among the state's most active H-1B sponsors. Physicians, nurses with advanced degrees, and allied health professionals in specialty roles have historically seen strong sponsorship activity across these organizations.
Look beyond Milwaukee to secondary markets
Madison, Green Bay, Appleton, and Racine all have employers who sponsor H-1B visas. Secondary markets often have less competition for sponsored roles, and some of Wisconsin's largest manufacturing and healthcare employers are based outside the two major metros.
Focus on specialty occupation alignment
H-1B eligibility requires a direct connection between your degree field and the job duties. In Wisconsin's engineering and IT sectors, roles with vague or generalist job descriptions are more likely to face scrutiny, so prioritize postings that specify a technical degree requirement.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified sponsorship roles
Searching broadly for Wisconsin jobs wastes time on roles that won't sponsor. Migrate Mate filters for H-1B sponsoring employers, so you can focus your applications on companies with an actual track record of filing petitions in Wisconsin.
Research Wisconsin employers through DOL LCA data
The Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure data shows which Wisconsin employers have filed Labor Condition Applications by year, role, and location. Searching this database helps you identify active sponsors in your field before applying, not after.
Time your job search around H-1B cap deadlines
USCIS accepts H-1B cap-subject petitions once per year, with registration typically opening in March. Wisconsin employers sponsoring new H-1B hires must plan around this window, so starting your search in the fall gives you lead time to secure an offer before registration opens.

Which industries in Wisconsin sponsor the most H-1B visas?
Healthcare is Wisconsin's largest H-1B visa sponsoring sector, driven by major health systems and academic medical centers concentrated in Milwaukee and Madison. Engineering and manufacturing follow closely, reflecting the state's strong industrial base. Information technology roles at both large enterprises and mid-sized companies represent a growing third category, particularly in Madison's expanding tech corridor.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the majority of H-1B sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Milwaukee's concentration of hospital networks and corporate headquarters drives consistent demand, while Madison benefits from the University of Wisconsin system, state government-adjacent employers, and a technology sector that has grown substantially over the past decade. Green Bay and Appleton offer additional opportunities in healthcare and manufacturing.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that qualify require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. In Wisconsin, this commonly includes physicians, software engineers, civil and mechanical engineers, financial analysts, and research scientists. Positions in clinical healthcare, IT infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing engineering appear frequently in Wisconsin's H-1B filings based on DOL disclosure data.
How do I find H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate lets you search for H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin filtered by employer sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which companies will actually file a petition. Alongside that, reviewing the DOL OFLC disclosure database for Wisconsin LCA filings helps you identify which specific employers have sponsored your job title and field in recent years.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
