Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B visas in Wisconsin?
The largest H-1B sponsors in Wisconsin's healthcare sector include UW Health (affiliated with the University of Wisconsin), Froedtert Health, Advocate Aurora Health, and Mayo Clinic Health System's Wisconsin locations. Academic medical centers and large hospital networks account for the majority of H-1B filings because they have established immigration departments and recurring hiring needs for specialized clinical and research roles.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Madison and Milwaukee are the two primary markets. Madison is home to UW Health and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, driving demand for physicians, researchers, and clinical specialists. Milwaukee concentrates activity through Froedtert Health and Advocate Aurora Health. Green Bay and Appleton have smaller but active healthcare labor markets, particularly for physical therapists, pharmacists, and specialty physicians serving regional populations.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that routinely qualify are those requiring at minimum a U.S. bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in a specific field. In healthcare, this commonly includes physicians, surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists, clinical laboratory scientists, medical researchers, and advanced practice registered nurses with relevant graduate degrees. General registered nursing positions typically do not qualify because the degree requirement is not always position-specific under USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I find healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for this search. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface Wisconsin healthcare roles where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually researching individual hospital careers pages. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on visa sponsorship jobs, so the listings are relevant to international candidates from the start rather than requiring you to screen each posting individually.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Wisconsin's healthcare sector?
Wisconsin does not impose additional state-level requirements on top of federal H-1B rules, but healthcare workers should be aware that professional licensing is handled separately from visa approval. Physicians, pharmacists, physical therapists, and other licensed professionals must obtain a Wisconsin state license from the relevant examining board before practicing, and some licensing boards require proof of valid work authorization. Starting the licensing process early, in parallel with the H-1B petition, helps avoid delays between visa approval and the ability to begin work.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B healthcare jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
