Which sports companies sponsor H-1B visas in Wisconsin?
The most prominent sponsors in Wisconsin's sports sector include major professional franchises like the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA) and Milwaukee Brewers (MLB), as well as the University of Wisconsin athletic department and Marquette University athletics. Sports technology vendors and fitness platform companies operating in Milwaukee have also filed H-1B visa petitions. Sponsorship activity tends to cluster around roles requiring specialized technical or analytical credentials.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most sports H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the clear center of sports H-1B activity in Wisconsin, driven by its professional franchises, sports media presence, and growing tech sector serving the industry. Green Bay is the second most active market, anchored by the Packers organization. Madison sees sponsorship activity through the University of Wisconsin system, particularly for sports science, coaching technology, and athletic administration roles at the collegiate level.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in sports generally applies to specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In Wisconsin, qualifying positions commonly include sports data analysts, software engineers building fan engagement or performance platforms, sports medicine practitioners with relevant clinical degrees, and digital marketing managers within team or league organizations. General coaching, operations, or sales roles without a degree requirement typically do not qualify.
How do I find sports H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers pursuing H-1B sponsorship and lets you filter directly by visa type, state, and industry, making it straightforward to browse sports H-1B jobs in Wisconsin. Because sponsoring employers in this sector are a subset of the broader market, filtering by verified sponsorship history saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship during the process.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Wisconsin's sports sector?
Wisconsin does not impose state-level visa restrictions, so federal H-1B rules govern entirely. One industry-specific consideration is that many sports organizations operate on seasonal or project-based staffing cycles tied to playing seasons, which can affect the timing of H-1B petitions and contract lengths. Employers must still meet prevailing wage requirements regardless of season length, and part-time H-1B arrangements, while possible, require careful structuring by the sponsoring employer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B sports jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
