Which e-commerce companies in Wisconsin sponsor H-1B visas?
Kohl's is Wisconsin's most prominent e-commerce H-1B visa sponsor, regularly filing petitions for technology and digital merchandising roles through its Menomonee Falls headquarters and Milwaukee-area tech offices. Northwestern Mutual's digital and fintech arms also sponsor international talent. Smaller Wisconsin-based direct-to-consumer brands and retail technology firms have increased sponsorship activity as they build out engineering and analytics teams.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most e-commerce H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and its surrounding suburbs, particularly Menomonee Falls and Brookfield, account for the largest share of e-commerce H-1B sponsorship activity in Wisconsin, driven by Kohl's corporate headquarters and affiliated tech operations. Madison follows, supported by its university-linked tech ecosystem and growing startup presence. Green Bay has a smaller but emerging pool of retail and logistics technology employers that occasionally sponsor H-1B workers.
What types of e-commerce roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that consistently qualify include software engineers, front-end and back-end developers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, UX designers with specialized degrees, and digital product managers. These positions require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, satisfying the H-1B specialty occupation standard. General marketing coordinator or customer service roles rarely qualify unless the position requires a specific technical or analytical degree.
How do I find e-commerce H-1B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to browse e-commerce H-1B opportunities in Wisconsin without sorting through roles that don't sponsor. You can filter by state and role type to focus on Wisconsin-based positions at companies like Kohl's and Madison-area tech firms. This saves significant time compared to manually researching which employers have a history of H-1B filings in the e-commerce space.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in e-commerce?
Wisconsin's e-commerce market is heavily anchored to retail tech rather than pure-play digital commerce, so many sponsoring employers expect candidates to understand omnichannel operations alongside technical skills. The state has fewer H-1B sponsors overall than coastal tech hubs, meaning competition for available positions can be concentrated among a smaller number of employers. Prevailing wage determinations in the Milwaukee and Madison metro areas follow DOL guidelines and reflect regional cost-of-living benchmarks, which differ from national averages.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B e-commerce jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
