Which agriculture companies in Wisconsin sponsor H-2B visas?
Wisconsin employers that have filed H-2B visa Labor Condition Applications include nurseries, vegetable and berry farms, Christmas tree operations, and food-processing facilities. Employers in counties like Waushara, Portage, and Door have historically appeared in DOL disclosure data for seasonal agricultural and farm-adjacent roles. The strongest signal of sponsorship history is an employer's past OFLC filings, which are publicly searchable.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Central Wisconsin communities including Wautoma, Plainfield, and Waupaca are active areas for seasonal farm and nursery H-2B hiring. The Door Peninsula sees H-2B activity tied to orchard and cherry harvest operations. In the Fox Valley region, food-processing employers near Oshkosh and Green Bay have also sponsored H-2B workers for non-harvest packing and processing roles that fall outside standard agricultural visa categories.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that qualify under H-2B in Wisconsin agriculture include nursery workers, sod farm laborers, Christmas tree harvesters, vegetable and fruit pickers, packing shed workers, and irrigation crew members. These positions must be temporary or seasonal, meaning the employer's need for the work is tied to a specific season rather than being a permanent ongoing requirement. Purely agricultural field labor may fall under H-2A visa instead.
How do I find agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-2B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin agriculture, filtered by employers with documented DOL filing history. You can search by role type and region to identify nurseries, farms, and processing operations that have sponsored H-2B workers in past seasons. Reviewing an employer's OFLC filing record before applying gives you a clearer picture of which companies have an established sponsorship process rather than one doing it for the first time.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2B agriculture sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's short growing season concentrates H-2B demand into a narrow window, typically spring through early fall, which means petition timelines and start dates are tightly scheduled. Employers must file with DOL well in advance of the season start, and cap availability affects how many workers can be approved nationally each fiscal year. Workers in roles that meet USDA definitions of agricultural labor may instead qualify under H-2A, which has no annual cap and different wage requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B agriculture jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
