Which sports companies sponsor H-2B visas in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin ski resorts, golf course operators, and outdoor recreation facilities are among the more active H-2B visa sponsors in the sports sector. Employers such as Wilmot Mountain and Devil's Head Resort have historically filed H-2B petitions for seasonal roles. Larger resort complexes in the Wisconsin Dells area also sponsor workers for recreation-related positions during peak summer and winter seasons.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most sports H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Wisconsin Dells is the most concentrated area for sports and recreation H-2B jobs, driven by its dense resort and water park industry. Milwaukee has opportunities tied to professional sports venues and fitness facilities. The Lake Geneva resort corridor and northern Wisconsin ski communities near Minocqua and Ironwood also generate seasonal H-2B demand from golf clubs, ski areas, and outdoor outfitters.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B sponsorship in sports typically covers seasonal, non-agricultural positions with a demonstrable temporary need. Qualifying roles often include ski lift operators, golf course attendants, outdoor adventure guides, sports facility groundskeepers, and water sports instructors. The employer must show the positions are genuinely seasonal and that sufficient U.S. workers are unavailable. Roles requiring specialized athletic credentials may face additional scrutiny during the petition process.
How do I find sports H-2B sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored roles and lets you filter by visa type and state, making it straightforward to surface H-2B sports jobs in Wisconsin. Because H-2B petitions are tied to specific seasonal windows, timing matters. Checking Migrate Mate regularly during fall and late spring, when Wisconsin resorts and recreation employers typically begin hiring, gives you the best chance of finding open positions before quotas are reached.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for H-2B sports sponsorship?
Wisconsin's sports H-2B market is strongly seasonal, with ski resorts peaking from November through March and golf or water sports facilities peaking from May through September. Employers must demonstrate this seasonality to USCIS as part of the petition. Wisconsin's relatively short peak windows mean H-2B cap timing is especially important here. Workers should also be aware that position approval is employer-specific and does not transfer if the sponsoring employer changes or closes operations.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B sports jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
