Find Electrical Systems Engineer JobsFrequently Asked Questions
What degree do I need for electrical systems engineer visa sponsorship?
You need a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, or a closely related engineering field. Some employers accept computer engineering or electronics engineering degrees if your coursework included power systems, circuit analysis, and electrical design fundamentals.
Do electrical systems engineers have good H-1B approval rates?
Yes, electrical systems engineers typically have strong H-1B approval rates because the role clearly requires specialized engineering knowledge. The degree-to-job alignment is straightforward, and electrical engineering is a well-established specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines.
Can electrical systems engineers get TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, if you're Canadian or Mexican. The TN category "Engineer" covers electrical systems engineers with a bachelor's degree in engineering. You'll need to show your work involves engineering design, analysis, or systems integration rather than routine maintenance tasks.
How to find Electrical Systems Engineer jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Electrical Systems Engineer jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international candidates with sponsoring employers. Focus on aerospace companies, defense contractors, automotive manufacturers, and renewable energy firms that commonly hire electrical engineers and sponsor H-1B, TN, or other work visas for technical roles requiring specialized engineering expertise.
What if my electrical engineering degree is from outside the U.S.?
You'll need a credential evaluation showing your foreign degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in electrical engineering. Most evaluators recognize accredited engineering programs from developed countries, though some may require course-by-course analysis for newer or specialized electrical engineering programs.
Do electrical systems engineers qualify if they work in manufacturing?
Yes, if your role involves electrical system design, analysis, or engineering rather than production oversight. Focus on technical responsibilities like electrical schematics, system integration, compliance testing, or equipment specification rather than manufacturing operations or quality control duties.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Electrical Systems Engineer jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
