VP Of Engineering Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vp of engineering in Georgia?
The path to a vp of engineering role in Georgia typically runs through individual contributor engineering work, then engineering management, then director-level leadership before reaching VP. Georgia does not require a state-issued license for software or product engineering executives, so the credential that matters most is a combination of a technical degree, a record of leading large teams, and deep domain knowledge in industries like fintech, logistics technology, or defense systems that dominate Georgia's engineering economy.
How much do VP of engineerings make in Georgia?
VP of engineerings in Georgia earn a median of about $161,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,170 for the lowest 10% to over $221,750 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vp of engineerings in Georgia?
Employers hiring vp of engineerings in Georgia right now include FIS, GBG, and Corpay, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's concentration of financial technology firms, enterprise software companies, and defense contractors means hiring activity is especially consistent in the Atlanta metropolitan corridor.
Which Georgia cities have the most vp of engineering jobs?
The cities with the most vp of engineering openings in Georgia are Atlanta and Duluth. Atlanta dominates because it serves as the Southeast headquarters for major fintech, media technology, and enterprise software companies, while Savannah and Augusta draw openings from port logistics technology operations and Army Cyber Command installations that require senior engineering leadership.
Are there remote vp of engineering jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields, since vp of engineering is a desk-based leadership role that translates well to distributed work. About 50% of vp of engineering openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader trends in technology leadership hiring. The parts of the role most commonly done remotely are strategic planning, roadmap reviews, and cross-functional stakeholder meetings, while on-site presence is still expected for team all-hands and executive offsites.
How can I get hired as a vp of engineering in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an engineering manager or director role first at a Georgia-based technology company, then building toward VP over several years. Large Georgia employers like NCR Atleos, Fiserv, and Cox Enterprises run internal leadership development programs that promote senior engineers into management. Candidates with strong hands-on experience in cloud platforms or fintech systems and a clear record of mentoring engineers are competitive for first-time manager roles that eventually lead to VP-level consideration.
