The Role
We are hiring a Controller / Accounting Manager to lead our finance and accounting function. This is the senior finance position in the company. You will report to the Owner, work directly with the onsite Executive Team, and be the person leadership relies on for accurate numbers and clear guidance. You will lead a small accounting team, own the monthly close in Global Shop Solutions ERP, and turn the results into reporting that drives pricing, capacity and business decisions.
It is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable with daily banking and entries and also wants a real voice in where the business goes next.
What You'll Lead
■ Financial reporting: deliver the monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow to the General Manager and ownership, with a clear summary of what changed and why.
■ Month-end and year-end close: run the close calendar in Global Shop Solutions ERP, review all balance sheet reconciliations, and lead year-end close with our outside CPA.
■ Cash management: oversee daily bank activity, approve and release vendor payments, set credit terms, and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast.
■ Cost accounting: own standard costs, work center labor and overhead rates, WIP and inventory valuation, and monthly variance and absorption analysis.
■ Planning and analysis: build the annual budget, report budget vs. actual, maintain leadership KPIs, and model margin and capacity for new work and product lines.
■ Payroll and benefits: oversee / review the bi-weekly payroll process via iSolved automated payroll, and verify correct payroll tax filings and benefits reconciliation.
■ Tax and compliance: Utah sales and use tax, 1099s, property tax and business filings, and S-Corp tax work with our outside CPA.
■ Controls and team: maintain segregation of duties and system access, and train and develop our accounting staff.
What You Bring
■ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
■ 5+ years of progressive accounting experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant, ideally in manufacturing.
■ Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, inventory and standard costing, and S-Corp reporting.
■ Experience with a manufacturing ERP; Global Shop Solutions strongly preferred. QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel skills.
■ Confident explaining the numbers to owners and managers in plain terms.
■ A plus: Mandarin Chinese, or experience using AI and automation to streamline accounting work.
